Great question! A film concert is a unique live performance experience in which a live orchestra performs a film's score and/or soundtrack, while the movie plays on a jumbo LED screen for an audience of thousands.

Imagine your favorite movie, but with the added thrill of hearing the music performed right there in the concert venue by live musicians. The orchestra brings the movie to life in a 'surround sound' experience, enhancing every emotion and scene.

The Sinfonietta ensembles are all-women and majority women-of-color orchestras, encompassing our flagship NYC-based Broadway Sinfonietta, and our LA-based Hollywood Sinfonietta.

These players are women handpicked by the Sinfonietta’s founder, Macy Schmidt, and may differ from concert to concert.

The Sinfonietta encompasses divisions of both for-profit work (such as Sinfonietta Productions and Sinfonietta Creative Management), and also has a Foundation arm.

There are three ways you can support the Sinfonietta, from a mere $5, all the way up to significant financial giving:

1. At the top right of our website, you can click “Buy Me A Coffee!”. These are $5 gifts that go straight into our ensemble childcare fund, which provides childcare to working mothers we hire onto gigs.

2. For giving between $100-$25,000, you can support the Sinfonietta via our fiscal sponsor. Email info@thesinfonietta.com for more information.

3. For giving $25,000 and above, we invite you to support the Sinfonietta Foundation, launching in Fall 2023. The Foundation will endow fellowships, assistantships, general financial assistance, child care, and grants to marginalized women & non-binary musicians in our community.
